This year, the Institute for Food and Environmental Research e.V. celebrates its 30th anniversary. (ILU) celebrates its 30th anniversary. In addition to researching and developing products and processes for healthy nutrition, the focus in the early years of the institute’s activities was primarily on developing solutions to problems for modern environmentally friendly and economical processes in food processing.
Today, the ILU is a link between science and practice. Here, questions of environmentally sound food production are dealt with as well as those of sustainable agriculture and bioeconomy. The institute operates modern laboratory and testing facilities at its Bad Belzig, Nuthetal and Berlin sites. At the core of the institute are 25 dedicated staff members with expertise from a wide range of scientific fields.
Close cooperation with other scientific institutions nationally and internationally enables complex application-oriented research. As a partner for politics, industry and science, the ILU contributes to solving the social issues of our time. The organisation of experiments in the state of Brandenburg is part of the institute’s tasks. Together with other research institutions, practice-relevant questions are dealt with under the aspect of encountering the effects of climate change.
